Name of Assignment: Aprendiendo a Manejar en Español
Subject: Spanish 2
Facilitator/Teacher: Profesora Ají
Description of Work/Assignment:
For this assignment, we were told to partner with another students and create a skit where we were driving somewhere. We had to include 10 nouns and 4 verbs from our textbook Chapter 3A and 12 nouns, 4 expressions, 4 commands, verbs and direct object pronouns from 3B. I was partnered with my classmate Ashlyn and we filmed it in her car.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
I think that this assignment addresses my Interpersonal skills. This is because, while Ashlyn and I had some time to work on our script in class, a lot of our filming had to be coordinated outside of school. We both worked and had extracurriculars, so we had to work together to find the right time, whose car we'd use, and how we'd edit the footage once we filmed.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
The thing I'm most proud of with this is the time frame we executed the project in. The assignment had been posted a week prior, but none of us were paired up until Wednesday and we only had til Monday of the next week to write, film, and edit our skits. But we got it done and we got a good grade, so I'd call it a success.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I developed my skill by learning to communicate with my project partner in a small time frame. We had to quickly negotiate, compromise, and agree on when and where to film and then agree on how to do the editing since we couldn't meet up again after filming.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
Like I said, I think the hardest thing was probably the time frame. Either that or the constraints with the script we had to make. The script directions were specific and difficult to cover, but we managed to include everything, even with the tight timeframe.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
If I could start over, I would definitely have tried to started earlier. I would have liked to put some more finishing touches on it like editing music or sound effects into it and double checking our pronunciation with Profe Ají.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
I was the one who did a good portion of the editing because the footage was on my computer. I have a lot of experience with filming and video editing so I got to use these skills.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I always enjoy doing things where I have to converse in Spanish because I think that it prepares me for my future learning. I want to someday be fluent in Spanish and it will take a lot of practice with assignments like this to do that.
