Work Sample #2
Name of Assignment: HARF Marketing Project: Educational Video
Subject: Community Engagement
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Ford
Description of Work/Assignment:
In this assignment we were asked to create an educational video for the younger students at our school. If approved, HARF would show our videos to the kids to help educate the next generation on how to care for animals.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
I feel like this assignment addressed our Civic Literacy and Engagement skills. HARF is a great organization that helps animals and families throughout the islands. By engaging with and volunteering for this organization we make a great impact on our community which is a big part of this 21st century skill.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am most proud of my group. We were efficient and professional, finishing the assignment quickly by neatly delegating the assignments early on and getting them done cohesively.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I improved upon this skill by gaining more experience working with nonprofit groups. Before this project, I didn't realize how much of an impact we could have by partnering with such an organization.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The hardest part about this task was the time constraints. We only had so much filming time with Winnie, so we had to do a lot of planning beforehand to complete our filming in the short class period.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
I think if we had more time I would have liked to include more information in the video. I think that while we included a lot of important information, we could have expanded on that or provided more extensive examples.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
In the past I've had a lot of experience with video direction and production from my years in media league, I feel this helped me perform well in this project.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I'm not fond of group projects, but every time I get to work in a group like this where everyone works together and wants to do well? It makes me have a little hope for my future group project experiences.
