Work Sample #2
Name of Assignment: Internship Presentation
Subject: Senior Seminar
Facilitator/Teacher: Mr. Adam
Description of Work/Assignment:
Over the summer of junior year, all of us completed an internship of our choosing. During this, we were supposed to document our experience with a timesheet, slides, and photos. Then, we presented on it in this assignment.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
I think this assignment addressed my Self-Directional Skills. Although we all had the same format for our presentation, there was definitely a lot of wiggle room as far as how and what content we could present just because everyone did something different for their internship.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am most proud of my documentation. I interned at a law firm and there wasn't a lot of opportunity to get photo documentation. However, I actually think I got a decent amount and I was able to have at least two photos per week in my slides.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
This project improved upon my Self-Directional skills by giving me the opportunity to see how my unique experience during my internship could fit into the strict mold of the assignment.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The hardest thing about completing this task was the fact that I actually had to rework my slides from what they originally were. Originally, the instructions for this assignment were different and so were the documentation guidelines. They changed during the quarter that this was due and I had to edit my slides to fit the new instructions.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
I think it would be nice to have more representative images of my takeaways. They just seem sort of dull and are just a lot of text.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
I have been making presentations since I was in middle school and this assignment was very similar. I like to think that I have built upon my skills and am now better than I was before.
How can you apply this to future learning?
Of course, I will likely be doing presentations for the rest of my education, but I think that this experience of presenting on my own experiences and accomplishments within a separate work experience will also be good to build on.
